Christophe Mercier’s contribution to the book « SEAS AND OCEANS : HOW TO SAVE OUR FUTURE »

“SEAS AND OCEANS, HOW TO SAVE OUR FUTURE” is a collective work in which scientists, managers, civil society actors and lawyers come together to make an assessment – often worrying – of the state of the world’s seas and oceans, and then to propose solutions to curb the exponential degradation of our maritime spaces.

In a 40-page chapter, Christophe Mercier, founder of the MOANA NUI project, explains the importance of applying and updating traditional Oceanian/Polynesian knowledges in the development of marine protected areas and the protection of the oceans in the broadest sense, concepts that are embodied at the heart of the MOANA NUI project.
